This is just a reminder that tomorrow is the 1st grade breakfast from 8:00-8:45. It will be held in the cafeteria. I hope to see you there! :)

This week we will be celebrating the 100th Day of school. On Friday we will be doing fun 100th day themed rotations with all 3 first grade classes. Today I sent home a letter with a bag attached for students to bring 100 of something...this can be anything at all. Please don't let your kiddos stress over what to bring in. It can be something as simple as cotton balls or skittles. Students are also encouraged to dress up like 100 year olds on Friday.
I hope everyone enjoyed their snow and ice days! I stayed nice and warm inside and did not venture out into the cold much at all! This week we will be diving right back into our routine. That means we will have nightly math home, a weekly reading log, and our spelling test will be on Friday. Thank you for your continued support. If you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to ask.
Over the next 7 days we will be learning all about Holidays around the world. If you would like to come into the classroom to share a family tradition about how you celebrate a certain holiday, please let me know, we would love to have you.
Just a reminder that there will be no set spelling list this week. We will be reviewing all the sight words that we have had this year. There are 64 of them in all! Students should be able to both read and write these words. Please continue studying and practicing. I've posted the list under our spelling tab in case you need a new one. TMSA's Annual Spelling Bee is Friday, January 12.
Our class will hold a class spelling bee and I will select ONE winner on Thursday, December 7th. Please help your child study the list of words I sent home! The winners from each class will then compete in the school Spelling Bee. The school Spelling Bee will be held in the auditorium after winter break. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. We certainly enjoyed ourselves last week in the classroom doing our Pie-giving pie tasting event.
Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving? This year is flying by. Tomorrow as you know will be our Pie-Giving. We will be sampling a variety of different pies and voting on our favorite. This event would not have been possible without all of your help. Thank you to all the families for being so generous with their time and for donating all of our supplies. The class is so excited. I'll make sure to take some pictures to share with you.
Due to the very short week there will be no newsletter, homework, or reading log. Enjoy the break with your family! :) This fall is certainly flying by. I can't believe it's already mid November. On Friday, your child will be bringing home spelling bee lists to study. This is an optional event that students can participate in. Thanksgiving break will be a great time to study some of those words. We will decide who our class winners are on Thursday, December 7th.
We had a lot of fun last week reading and writing fall themed stories. We created scarecrows and wrote scarecrow stories, we read Spookley the Square Pumpkin and created our own Spookelys and wrote fantasy fiction stories about our characters. This week we will be learning about common nouns and will be naming as many fall nouns as we can.
