I hope everyone was able to stay safe during the hurricane days we had. I'm thankful to be back at school with my fabulous firsties. Please note that I have uploaded some resources for you to use at home. Please also check for your child's group. All the kiddos are grouped by animals. You can use the resources in your child's animal group to help with the word sorts at home. Each child knows what animal group they are in!
We have officially begun our second full week of first grade. We are having a great time. We are really getting into the groove with all the new rules and expectations. Our big focus the past week has been "read to self" and building our stamina. We started out school being able to "read to self" for 2 minutes and today we made it all the way to 7 minutes. Our goal is to make it to 20 minutes by the 20th day of trying. Some of the rules of read to self are: get started right away, stay in one spot, read quietly, read the whole time, and these are all ways to build our stamina.
